Canoe Trekking

A special experience of nature are our combined canoe trekking and bycicle tours.

An experience that you won´t forget that soon. After the detailed safety briefing and handover of the lifejackets on the evening before, you will start with your bicycles (bycicles can be lent as well) and some food on your journey in the direction of the Lippesee to Sande early in the morning. There is a launch point nearby the barrage. Our skipper will have ready the boats (Candian canoes) for you. Now your muscular strength is required. You will launch the canoes under instruction, get in and there you go!

The light sense of insecurity runs out fast. A picturesque riverside scene opens uo for you, trees and bushes down to the waters, sunny and shady parts, birdsongs, colonies of yellow wagtails and water ouzels. You will feel the nature and there will be the smell of fresh grass. There are four backwater points to pass, three of them you will master in a sitting position, the last one, almost a cataract, will be passed by the overland route. Leaded with ropes, the Candian canoes will get through the wild narrow section of the riverbed without their crew. After getting through this barrage, the boats will be tied together, it´s time for the picnic in the country. After this refreshment the tour goes on through the unique beautiness of the landscape. You will canoe along the former Romans´ camp Anreppen to the point of Boke to the disembarkation point. After pulling teh boats out of the water and storing them on the prepared trailers, you will cycle on the historical Romans´ route in direction to Paderborn. On the way you will stop for a bite to eat at Bauern Cafe Marks to enjoy the homemade cake with coffee or the Bauernvesper with wine. Getting back to the Hotel Heide Residenz, the shower is awaiting you. An eventful day is drawing to a close, relax with a glass of wine and let us spoil you in our restaurant or beer garden.
